6 When the Ascension of the Lord is celebrated on the following Sunday, the second reading and the Gospel from the Seventh Sunday of Easter (see no. 61) may be read on the Sixth Sunday of Easter. 7 Regarding the Ascension of the Lord, the ecclesiastical provinces of Boston, Hartford, New York, Newark, Philadelphia, and Omaha have retained its celebration on the proper Thursday, while all other provinces have transferred this solemnity to the seventh Sunday of Easter, May 16. If transferred, Thursday, May 13, is observed either as an Easter Weekday or the optional memorial of Our Lady of Fatima. The following readings are used: Acts 18:1-8 / John 16:16-20 (294). |
